I am deeply grateful, proud, and humbled to see my name on the ballot to serve the City of Issaquah.
I'm running to strengthen our city's sense of community—building better social support structures and more welcoming, inclusive third places that remind us we are not alone, that we are threads in a common fabric.
I'm also focused on the larger challenges we face: transit and transportation, energy independence and sustainability, affordable housing, and preserving our public lands. My approach rejects false choices—the notion that we must sacrifice public lands to build affordable homes, for instance. Instead, I want to address the harmful externalities that burden those who didn't create them: teachers, first responders, and healthcare workers who can't afford homes in the city they serve; small businesses weighed down by bureaucracy while receiving insufficient support for upholding our city's unique identity and creating spaces where we gather.
On my website, you'll find not only my positions on key issues but also the platform and ideas I want to bring forward.
What could be more common-sense than aligning our values with our actions, and pursuing them with integrity, transparency, and grace?
As a society, we've tried quick soundbites and catchy slogans, yet we continue to overlook a fundamental truth: there are no easy solutions. Now more than ever, it's time we commit to the hard work.
I find it troubling that so much money and so many vested interests dominate politics. That's why I am not seeking or accepting campaign donations. I'm also troubled that we don't seek leaders who understand that the measure of faith is service—as Pope Francis once said. I use "faith" here not religiously, but to express our belief that we belong to each other and must place our trust in one another. The measure of that faith is selfless service.
For me, community is about neighbors—about the social bonds that help us flourish in good times and sustain one another through difficult ones. Local government is our best hope to remind us of our shared humanity.
If this resonates with you, please consider voting for me and sharing my platform. Thank you.
