Meet the Candidates Running for Issaquah City Council, Position 5

I'm so grateful for this opportunity to connect with our community and share my values and vision for our beautiful city. As someone who neither seeks nor accepts political donations, I truly appreciate Issaquah Highlands' efforts to help residents get to know all candidates.

Regarding that last question—"Salmon or Sasquatch?"—the politically savvy answer would be "I HEART Salmon 4ever," perhaps with a strategic nod toward FISH (Friends of the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery) for an endorsement. But I have to be honest: I'm Sasquatch all the way! I love our salmon and everything they represent for our community, but this town is also beautifully mystical, and that's part of what makes Issaquah special.

(Though I'd still welcome that FISH endorsement!)

"Diogo Magelhaes and Russell Joe are running for position 5 on Issaquah City Council in the November 2025 general election. The two candidates answered a series of questions in the fall 2025 issue of Community Connect magazine.

Ballots will be sent in the mail Oct. 17. Be sure to vote by Tuesday, Nov. 4, at 8 p.m."
